Caught in a crowd. Where are my friends? Surrounded. Lost. Cell phone service? Yeah, right. Somehow I didn't mind. I've never seen so many people in one place. Lights everywhere. Blue lights, green lights, flashing lights, lasers, led screen, little lights, big lights, all of the lights. I can't stop looking at the girl in front of me. I feel like she'll notice, then I wonder if I'd mind if she did. I push my way to cooler air to escape.
Two kids sitting on the ground, playing with light toys. They don't seem to notice anything around them. I get asked for doses. Sorry buddy, not today. Water is five dollars? I think about all the thirsty kids in the world. Supply and demand is an amazing concept. A cup of soda cost manufacturers pennies, and if you buy it at a football game it costs you seven dollars. I wonder how they get away with this modern day highway robbery.
I finally make my way to what they call the main stage. Something palpable fills me as I get closer. Somehow i'm lost in the crowd again. The bass thumps in time as I walk. Boom-Boom-Boom-Boom. My heartbeat. So many people moving together. The music has slowed down. Why are everyones hands up? The air is still. Then the drums come. Slower at first, then faster, and faster. The rush comes over me. One hundred thousand people jump in the air.
When night has become the day
They're sending you far away
So, so far away
When everything starts to fade
You don't have to be afraid
No, you don't have to be afraid

I wanted to use a picture that was special to me. A place in my life that really had some emotional ties. This picture was taken at a very happy time in my life. I tried to be as impartial as I could, but I feel like its difficult to maintain an authors imprint while still maintaining anonymity with the class. I wanted to do a simple black layout, because the color scheme I want to use is neon and/or bright colors and they look the best against a black or dark grey back drop. I am not very familiar with blogger.com as a media tool, so my basic outlook was only partially due to a simplistic artistic view. As I become more familiar with the technology I will diversify and add to my blog for future assignments.
ReplyDeleteWhere the Heart is, is a fitting title for a blog that shares a deep passionate feeling for music. The author was able to illustrate a scene at a music concert which is more effective rather than stating the story. Part of what makes this blog effective and interesting is the fact that the author illustrates the scene in short and fragmented sentences. The sentences parallel to the feeling of a place where one hundred thousand people are crowded in, and having fun. The author immediately puts the reader in a crowd with the first sentence. The author describes the surrounding with the different color lighting and then quickly jumps to a specific person in the crowd that has caught the author’s attention. But instead of making it a love story at a concert which seemed like it was leading into the story then shifts again to a different idea.
ReplyDeleteThere is just enough information that is included without overwhelming the reader. If the story was to be any longer it would have taken away from the main focus which is revealed at the end. The blog sidetracked a little when the author mentioned the manufacturing of soda and how much it cost at a football game. The reader gets the idea of how expensive the water when the author stated it in a question. An exclamation point would have also showed the dumbfounded reaction. At the end the blog moves to the main focus which is the music. Again the fragmented sentences are able to place the reader back in the middle of the crowd with the author. One thing that I would change about the blog is the background. It is too plain compared to the story. A background that connects with the beating of the heart or drums would a bigger impact to the feeling of the blog as a whole. Or also a background with different lighting would further place the reader in the story.
